Description:
Have fun and create beautiful gourds
using a new resist technique with no hot wax involved. You can
have bold, thin, curved or wiggly lines. Your imagination is
unlimited.
Instructor will furnish: Ink and leather dyes, resist
adhesives, brushes, water container, patterns (you can take
home) protective gloves and written instructions.
Students must bring:
One cleaned gourd painted inside unless you decide to use a full
size martin gourd (see picture). |

pine needles on the gourd. They will then work on the lid which
will focus on forming a snug fitting lid with inner lip.

making a decorative birdhouse or a standing decoration. You will
learn how to draw a shirt and overalls onto the gourd and add
air dry clay to make wings, a wattle and comb, pockets, etc.

Description: This gourd can be a beginner gourd or
more advanced pine needle coiling project. The wheat stitch is
used for much of the coiling but with the addition of twisted
floating coils, an air borne coil and looped coil, there is much
to learn. The faggot stitch will be used to fill in the open
coil areas.
Instructor will furnish: Embellishments including glass
beads and the signature laser cut copper piece. Choice of gourd
colors.

This is a fun project for all skill
levels. We will use an apple and canteen gourd to make an acorn
looking birdhouse. The top is an easy burning technique and
then adorned with a clay leaf made from Apoxie Sculpt clay. The
bottom and top is dyed with Tandy’s new Eco-Flo leather dye.
Handouts provided.

Description:
You will learn how to weave (twine) a
waxed linen rim on a mini gourd.
Instructor will furnish: You will receive a kit which
includes: a small cleaned, cut and polished gourd with the holes
already punched around the rim and with the spokes already
inserted, 2 colors of waxed linen and a tutorial. Inserting the
waxed linen spokes into the tiny holes is very time consuming.
With only the weaving to do, you could finish the rim at the
meeting and take home your finished project. I will have
additional kits @ $15.00 each.
Students must bring: A sharp pair of scissors and a small
awl or screwdriver to pack the woven rows of waxed linen
tightly. |

This class will show you how to make a Native American style
doll from the neck of a gourd. You will have the choice of
covering your doll with feathers or leather, making one or two
beaded necklaces for her neck, a leather cape left plain or dyed
with a pattern, and surrounding her with mini gourds at her
feet.
Instructor will furnish:
A tutorial, a gourd neck attached to a wooden base, and all
tools and other supplies you will need.
Students must bring:
An apron or cover up to protect your clothes and a great
attitude.

carve the flower then paint with acrylic paint.

The students will get to paint their own gourd piece, which will
be completely cleaned and prepared for painting. Their
choice of leather dyes, mix master and textured paints as well
as acrylics will be available. After sealing them,
students will learn to coil long leaf pine needles around gourd
edge in an out turned lip and how to create floating coils.
Coiling may not be completed in class. Iron stands will be
provided in kit.

Description: Learn
creative ways to use non toxic, Earth
friendly ink dyes, gel mediums and glazes, texture as embossing
compound, crackle, pigments, waxes, and stencils. Rather than
completing a single project we will be making a sampler,
focusing on learning techniques for using the many different
artist grade, Generation Green (formerly Terra Bella) products.
Let this class be a springboard for your creativity as we mix
and match to create texture and color.
We will be working with: Ink Dyes; application techniques and
blending Gel Glazes and Shimmers; how to use as highlight and
mixing with color Gel mediums,Shimmer Opaque; how to achieve
textures from ceramic raku to hammered-metal, blending, toning,
and stenciling. Crackle; special effects with paint and gels.
Texture; use as embossing paste, with stencils, adding texture.
Colorant; how to use this pure pigment to create the color
intensity you want. With various mediums; paint, gels, varnish,
texture. Handouts will be provided.
All materials used in class will be available in our booth.
Student must bring: A cleaned, uncut 6 - 7 inch kettle
gourd, wood burning tool and heat gun or hair dryer.

Learning to use gemstone chip rock in
a new way. Create a gourd that has gemstones chip rock for a
rim. This technique along with leather dyes makes an
outstanding gourd plus it is fun.
Instructor will furnish: Leather dyes, gourds if
necessary (please let me know) wire, instructions, Sealer and
gemstone chip rocks. (The gemstones chip rocks can be purchased
from a vendor at Cherokee if I don’t have what you want.)
Please do not dye your gourd before coming to class – just clean
it. Handouts will be provided.
Students must bring:
A cleaned gourd that is about 6 - 8
inches in height. Rotary tool to drill holes. Do Not Dye Gourd
– just paint the inside black. |

Working with PyroPaper, students will learn techniques for
woodburning this tree frog on a gourd. Learn several different
methods of achieving texture and shading. The instructor will
have other designs to choose from as well. Impressive project
when combined with a decorative rim! Handout and extra PyroPaper
designs provided..
Students must bring:
one cleaned gourd of any shape and size (large enough for a 4-
or 6-inch square drawing to be woodburned on it) cut or uncut,
frosty clear or masking tape, favorite paper scissors, and an
adjustable temperature woodburner (Detail Master, Burnmaster,
Razertip, Colwood) with a skew tip (blade-like, not ball tip).
Handheld Walnut Hollow types will not work with PyroPaper. |
